Professional Development Units (PDUs) Individuals are required to earn and document continuing Professional Development Units (PDUs) in order to retain their certification status. PMPs must accrue a minimum of 60 PDUs every three years. For more information on the other PMI Certification programs, please visit the Continuing Certification Requirements on PMIs Web site. Earning PDUs PDUs are measuring units used to quantify approved learning and professional service activities. Typically one (1) PDU is earned per hour (60 minutes) spent in a planned and structured learning activity. The CCR program has identified five categories in which credential holders can earn PDUs:
For a detailed explanation of each of these categories and how PDUs can be earned in each, review the CCR Program information at http://www.pmi.org/CareerDevelopment/Pages/Continuing-Certification-Requirements-(CCR).aspx. The CCR System provides a straightforward user interface as the entry point for credential holders and education providers. Locating and entering information is intuitive, and transactions are easy to accomplish. The CCR System is incorporated into PMI’s single sign-on technology, enabling system users to log in only once to gain access to all PMI systems. For more information and to access the new system, visit the CCR System located on the PMI Home Page at http://www.pmi.org/CareerDevelopment/Pages/MaintainYourCredential.aspx. You are encouraged to register your PDUs on a routine basis! Although it is not the responsibility of EIC-PMI to ensure that Chapter members have opportunities to earn and maintain PDUs, the Eastern Idaho Chapter tries to provide or organize as many venues as possible for members to earn PDUs. Sponsoring these events is often expensive and requires the investment of time on the part of volunteers and the Chapter Board. The Board is constantly looking for volunteers to help with these and other projects sponsored by the Chapter. Volunteering is a means to earn PDUs. If you are interested please contact any EIC-PMI Board member. |
